BioSci Southwest Symposium

Engage with cutting-edge research.
Connect with next-gen scientists.
Share your knowledge.

BioSci Southwest is a regional symposium that engages both presenters and attendees to create an accessible, fun and community-oriented experience.

  • Learn about research being conducted at local universities via lightning talks and poster presentations.
  • Network with researchers and further expand your project. Understand the undergraduate and graduate school experience.
  • Talk with scientists and engage with their work. Support student researchers in their burgeoning identity as a scientist.

BioSci Southwest includes Fireside Chats, where experts lead mini-discussions on becoming an undergraduate researcher, getting into a graduate program, and crafting a career. Ask questions, add insights, be part of the conversation.

We want your expertise as well! Offer your feedback on BioSci Southwest’s content by reviewing presentations and posters. Your feedback will be used as part of the awards ceremony and make you eligible to win awards of your own!

Register Today! Registration includes admission to the reception (activities, networking, and food). Space is limited and registration only takes 20 seconds.

Presenter Engagement and Awards

As scientists, you need to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences. Not only do you need to disseminate research to non-scientists in an understandable and relatable way, you must also share it with your colleagues.

BioSci Southwest encourages participation beyond your scheduled presentation time.

BioSci Southwest presenters can evaluate their colleagues via QR code surveys. Presenter awards, based on your feedback, will be given during the closing ceremony.

As a reviewer, you’ll be eligible for awards, too! Attendee awards will be presented for engagement efforts: the highest number of reviews, best constructive comments, etc. A social media engagement award will also be given; tag your posts with #BioSciSW.

Attendee Engagement and Awards

That’s where you come in. We care about your feedback. Did you find a poster’s design exceptional? Was a lightning talk especially good?

We want to know.

BioSci Southwest attendees can evaluate presenters via QR code surveys. Presenter awards, based on your feedback, will be given during the closing ceremony.
